The University of Coimbra is an international public institution of higher education, with centuries of experience in teaching, training and research. Founded in 1290 and classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 2013, it was the first and only Portuguese-speaking university until the beginning of the 20th century, having affirmed its position with a unique presence that brings together tradition, modernity and innovation.

With particular emphasis on the field of biomedicine, the Faculty of Medicine assumes itself as a preferred and reference partner, with multiple centers of research and clinical activity. Among them, the Dentistry Area is highlighted, which develops its activity in the clinical and pedagogical scope, through integrated masters and postgraduate courses, but also in the field of translational research in terms of ergonomics and the use of multiple medical devices, as well as in the microbiological study of aerosols and contaminants.
